May 15th is the fourth annual Food Revolution Day. Last year, we participated by cooking the official FRD recipe with students at PS 55 in the Bronx. This year, we will be doing the same in an effort to introduce students to healthy, delicious food!
But FRD isn’t just about cooking, it’s about food education and the need for a greater understanding of it among children. That’s why Jamie launched a petition to get compulsory practical food education in schools across the world. Currently, over 800,000 people worldwide have signed in support of this mission. The most simple and easy way to get involved with FRD2015 is to SIGN THE PETITION. Click here and learn more!
Now, if you want to go a step further, you can do something as simple as cooking a recipe at home with your kids or better yet, cook with a group of kids at your local school or after school program and get them excited about food!
With over 42 million children who are either overweight or obese,
under the age of 5, this is the least we can do to help fight the battle.
Feeling impassioned yet? If so, you can become an Ambassador and build a year long effort to make a difference in your community’s health status.
The purpose of Food Revolution Day is to get the message out there to parents, schools, and governments. Even the smallest interaction with proper food education can spark a greater understanding of the food we put into our bodies and where it comes from. With every active participant, the greater our voice is - so take part with us at this year’s Food Revolution Day!
