RIDGEWOOD, NJ (April 2015) –Veggiecation is an evidence based, culinary nutrition education program, that promotes and educates children and communities on the health benefits of vegetables and how to prepare them in simple, unique, affordable, and most importantly, delicious ways. Lisa Suriano, born in Queens but grew up in the Bergen County town of Ridgewood, is excited to bring her program back to the county that raised her!

Lisa will be holding a live in person training and cooking demonstration in Bergen County on April 24th. She will present her program methods and train nutritionists, dietitians, and health specialists from Bergen County schools, super markets, and other community establishments. The Community Health Improvement Partnership (CHIP) of Bergen County will be sponsoring the event for over thirty participants. The members of the CHIP are working to improve nutrition and increase physical activity in order to prevent obesity and chronic health conditions.  Seats are limited and are still available. It feels very special to have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the place that has given so much to me.”

Lisa is not the only Bergen Country resident with an active hand in the program.  Veggiecation’s Assistant Program Director, Nina Colangelo, Program Illustrator, Lauren Roth and Certified Veggiecation Instructor, Nicole Lettieri are all proud Ridgewood High School alumni.

Veggiecation is the only culinary nutrition education program of its kind, providing individuals and groups with a format for bringing comprehensive nutrition education to their communities. For more information on the Veggiecation, please visit www.veggiecation.com.
